The Truth about Russian Guys
There are quite a few myths about Russian guys. The most common ones are that Russian men have a deep devotion to vodka and that they are rude and abusive by nature.
Yes, Russian men drink vodka, but so do Polish men, American men or Irish men. Vodka is cheap and easy to make, and it is popular all over the world. I traveled a lot and I live in different countries when I was a student, and from my observation Russian guys didn’t drink any more or less than their Western friends.
Russians might have gotten a label of being the main vodka drinkers, because according to a number of experts vodka was created by Russians. They say that vodka comes from “bread wine”- Russian drink, which was prepared by fermentation of bread soaking in water. They also say that in the 18th – 19th century every landowner and producer had to have his own brand of vodka.
Russian guys are not abusive and not all of them are rude. Russian men, who were raised in good families, can be very tender, charming, gentle and protective. The culture of sexism is prevalent in Russian society, but Russian women are not fighting for their rights as feminist in Western European cultures do. They do not appreciate radical sexism, but they also want to be different from men and they like to emphasize their femininity and even weakness. They like their men to be masculine and that’s what most Russian men are.
Russian guys also don’t like feminists. They usually have nothing against their wives having a good career, but they also expect that household duties and kids are a woman’s priority. They like traditional family values, but so do Russian women.
So if you are corresponding with a woman and she says that the reason she is looking for a husband abroad, is because Russian men suck, don’t buy it. Unless she is from a very small city where there are no decent men (which is possible), she is probably not a 100% sincere.
