Do Mature Russian Women Prefer Older Men

As a general rule Russian women mature earlier. By the age of 20-22 they are ready to create a family and have children. In Western culture you can rarely find a man who is ready to tie the knot this early, so this is one of the reasons why many mature Russian women prefer to marry older guys.

When it comes to Russian-American marriages, it is not uncommon to have a 10-15 year old difference between a man and a woman. In fact, such marriages are often very successful and harmonious. Women like maturity, intelligence and stability and men value youth and beauty.

Russian women are very family-oriented, so it is important for them to have a husband who would take care of her and their children; who would offer stability, love and respect. Whether it is stereotype or not, it is believed that older men are better husbands and fathers, so many women tend to choose men who are at least a little bit older.

Marriages with a 25 and more year difference do exist and some of them work. However, these marriages are at higher risks at having problems later on, when a husband gets old and a wife is still young and full of life and energy. You need lots of common interest for you marriage to last, which may not be easy if you belong to two different generations. Even if you are truly and madly in love with each other, remember that romance often wears off, so you need other things to hold you together.

Not every Russian woman, however, prefers to marry older man. We know happy couples where a husband is even a little bit younger than a wife. However, this usually holds true when both men and women are at least in their early thirties. By this time both men and women are usually pretty mature and know what they want from life and from a partner.

My Russian wife is two years my senior. My first trip to Russia, I met and dated several women who were significantly younger than me, and it seemed that I didn’t have much in common with most of them. The one that I met that was closest to my aga, and whom I had a lot in common with, was only dating foreign men because of a “bet” and she wasn’t really serious. I made a date to have breakfast with her one morning, and she called at the last minute and cancelled on me. She told me that she though I was too “high maintenance.”
