There are plenty of things which can go wrong when you are corresponding with someone from a different culture. The good news is that if get familiar with the culture, these things are relatively easy to avoid.

Recently I got a letter from another “victim” of Russian dating scams. He was kind enough to let us post his letter on our site in hopes that it might be helpful to other men.
I have been in relationships before, but not for the last several years. It’s not because there is no one to have a relationship with. It’s because I would rather be alone than be with someone I do not love or respect. Being alone could have its benefits. 1. If you decided to find a Russian wife through online dating sites or a marriage agency or dating sites, try to avoid free dating sites. Since anyone can register on the site, there is a much greater risk of being scammed. Don’t take this risk and don’t waste your time. Go with respectable agencies, which are well known and have a solid reputation, such as Anastasia International or Elena’s Model’s.

Just to clarify, Russian scammers are not Russian women who post their profiles online. As a matter of fact, many so-called “Russian scammers” are not women and not Russian at all. They are called Russian, because they use Russian dating sites as their scam arena.

Russian-American dating is gaining popularity, and as a result of this the number of Russian marriage agencies keeps growing. Some guys wonder if they really need the agencies in order to find a Russian wife. There is no definite answer to this, however Russian marriage agencies (legitimate ones, of course) can save you a lot of time and will reduce your chances of being scammed. -

- Never send money to a woman you don’t know. Especially if she asks for it. Respectable Russian and Eastern European women will never ask you for money. It is just not acceptable in Russian culture.
