When I came to this country I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly Americans were. Almost everybody I met seemed to be excited to find out that I was Russian. “Cool, Russia!- people would say. “Yeah, I know it is very cold there” or “I heard that you have lots of bears in Russia”, or a classic: “Wow, Russian, you say, so how much vodka can you drink?” From conversations with people I also found out that people in Russia are very sad, very poor and that most of the men wear beards.
